Kindergarten and First Grade

1. Forms and Fees.
  • Complete the application form and return it to school with a $55 non-refundable fee. Applications are accepted beginning July 1st for admission in September of the following year (Example: July 1, 2008 for admission in September 2009).
  • The Teacher Reference Form should be completed by the child’s current teacher and returned to the school between December 1 and December 31 (Example: December 2008 for admission in 2009).
2. Visits to the School.
  • Attend the BFS Open House in October.
  • Contact the School to schedule a meeting to take place in October or early November with the Head of School or Assistant Head of School. Both parents are urged to attend this meeting. The meeting will last approximately one hour and will include a tour of the school. This visit will provide the opportunity to exchange information about the child’s interests, strengths and needs, and about the school and its program.
  • The School will contact you in November or December to arrange a date and time for your child to visit BFS.  Kindergarten applicants will visit the school for a Friday morning or afternoon in January. First grade applicants will visit the school for a Thursday or Friday afternoon in February.
3. Decisions on Admissions.
  • The Admission decision letter will be sent on March 1. If your child is accepted, follow the registration procedures outlined below.
  • Applicants may be conditionally accepted and temporarily wait-listed pending available space or deferred for possible enrollment in a subsequent year if determined they are not yet ready to enter the school.
  • The school will inform parents in those cases where they believe BFS is not the best choice of schools for their child.
4. Registration.
  • Within 15 days of receiving the student’s acceptance letter, the parents should sign and return the Enrollment Agreement along with a non-refundable registration deposit of $1,000, thereby reserving the child’s place.
  • Note: the exact deadline for registration will be specified in the acceptance letter.  If the Enrollment Agreement and $1,000 deposit is not returned by the specified deadline, the school will contact another waiting applicant.
5. Application for Financial Aid.
  • Upon registering the student, parents may apply for financial aid by submitting an application to the school and to Student Service for Financial Aid in Princeton. Parents must provide the school with a copy of their completed IRS Form 1040. Please contact the Business Office at 215-794-7496 for complete instructions.
