Summer Arts Camp

Buckingham Friends School Summer Arts Camp 2008

Session 1: June 16 - 27
Session 2: June 30 - 11 (no camp July 4)

Buckingham Friends School Summer Arts Camp provides many opportunities to create and perform in a setting of cooperation rather than competition. Whole-camp activities and games at the beginning and end of the day provide a chance for campers of all ages to know and respect each other. Campers are divided according to age for the group sessions that occur each day. These small groups, of typically 8-10 campers, allow for our skilled staff to give attention to each child.

Activities include woodworking, theater arts, production and set design, ceramics, still life drawing, water color and acrylic painting, printmaking, crafts, textiles, paper maché, and problem solving activities.

Other activities include guest artists, sports activities, cooking, trust games, and nature walks.

Both of the two-week sessions are filled with opportunities to work in a variety of areas, to play and to create. The sessions culminate in an art show where the campers display all of their artwork and present a short program on or off the stage for their families and friends.

Our Leaders are qualified and skilled educators and practicing artists:

She holds a Diploma from the Institute of Leeds University in England, as well as from the St. Nicholas Montessori College in London. She taught in England for 10 years where she was the head of her department. She has taught at Buckingham Friends School since 1995.
