Welcome to Buckingham Friends School I am Melissa Clayton, Director of Admissions. I wish we were doing this in person and on campus but my hope is this video will help you understand how we celebrate the spirit of steward the promise of each individual and build an engaged learning community while providing a school experience for children that we believe is more relevant today than ever. The BFS campus covers 44-acres and we use every single square inch of that space. Students explore the woods and pond through hands-on learning experiences, enjoy PE and in one of our four playing fields, practice yoga on the mindfulness platform, take art classes by the creek, and much much more. With such and expansive and rich array of campus spaces, the possibilities for exploration, adventure, and learning are limitless. As a Friends school, one of our core values is inspirational academics. From kindergarten through 8th grade, our academic program offers a broad and engaging curriculum in the core areas of language arts, math, social studies, science, and world languages. A hallmark of our academic program is the emphasis we place on the ability of each student to be recognized and supported as an individual, to demonstrate what they have learned in multiple ways and to excel. BFS's programs, while centered around a strong academic curriculum, incorporates a breadth of experiences that extend wisely past those core subject areas. We work hard to ensure that each child builds life skills, such as confidence, self-worth, leadership, empathy, and appreciation and respect for others, and resilience. Every student's day at BFS is enriched with what we call specials, and our program offers signature experiences in mindfulness and wellness, art, woodshop, physical education, and music. Meeting for Worship is the central experience at a Friends school. Our entire school community comes together weekly to sit in silence, slowing down from our busy lives, and listening to the voice within ourselves. BFS families will tell you that this is a very inclusive, supportive, inviting, and accessible school community. When we welcome your child, we also welcome your entire family, and provide many opportunities for parents to feel connected and to be involved.
