Religion classes in grades 3-8 provide a basic understanding of the world’s major religions: Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam. Students explore history, basic beliefs, sacred texts, and rituals associated with these religions. Additionally, students take an in-depth look at Quakerism. Interdisciplinary projects integrating Religion and Art encourage assimilation and self-expression of skills and concepts taught in both content areas. As a culminating unit of study, 8th grade students explore their own morals and ethics as they apply to personal beliefs, world religions and contemporary society.
