Quaker Friends School Parents

Many of the activities at Buckingham Friends School are only possible through the generous contribution of our families’ time, energy and creativity. In turn, their participation teaches the children, by example, the important lesson of being responsible members of the community. There are limitless opportunities to become involved, and work side by side with teachers, students and other parents. Parents can read to a class, chaperone a trip, help in the office or school store, maintain a garden, or serve as class parent.

All members of the BFS community are also asked to support the school’s Annual Fund as well as a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. Volunteers are invited to participate on parent-led committees for the two major annual fundraising events: the 5k Trail Run/Walk in the fall and the Auction in the early spring. Throughout the year, parents also help with smaller fundraising events, such as the Lasagna Dinner, Ghost Walk, and Book Fair to fund specific projects and class trips.

Parent, Teacher, Administration Committee

PTAC is the school-wide parent-teacher organization, providing resources and support for the school. Its mission is to develop a positive and welcoming environment for all parents, and to work closely with the school in meeting its current needs. PTAC also nominates parents to serve on the School’s Board.

All parents are automatically members of PTAC. The leadership of PTAC, which includes the clerk of PTAC, head of school, advancement director, one faculty representative, and each class parent, holds monthly meetings during the school year to discuss volunteer needs, special events and activities, and any issues that may arise.
