Fourth Grade Supports the Bucks County SPCA

A hallmark of the fourth-grade experience at Buckingham Friends School, the annual partnership with the Bucks County SPCA allows students to engage in meaningful service learning. Throughout the year, students explored the organization’s mission through classroom study and visits to its Quakertown and Lahaska locations, where they also shared persuasive essays and handmade posters promoting pet adoption.

Building on this work, students recently organized a fundraiser for the school community, selling lemonade and baked goods and hosting a live animal exhibit and petting zoo. The event raised more than $500 in support of the SPCA.

“We’re excited to welcome the SPCA team to campus and continue this work with our students,” said Jennifer Gibson. “They’re especially looking forward to creating handmade toys for the animals—an experience that really highlights their growing sense of empathy, responsibility, and connection to the broader community.”
