Strategic Plan:

We are proud to announce our new Strategic Plan – Realizing the Promise – for Buckingham Friends School.  In the fall of 2018, The Board of Trustees of Buckingham Friends School embarked on a strategic planning journey to affirm our mission, to clarify and convey our values, and to create a shared vision for the future of our school.  Our inclusive and comprehensive process engaged hundreds of community members in roundtable discussions, surveys, research, and a day-long strategic planning visioning day.  Faculty and staff, trustees, current and past parents, students, graduates, area Meeting members, and friends of the School all contributed to the process and the product.

Our shared work led to three important outputs for approval by the Board: new mission and values statements; a strategic issues framework which provided the research required to assess and determine the strategic issues the School and Board would focus on during the next five years; and the core goals and initial strategies that frame a new five-year strategic plan for Buckingham Friends School.  This work will help shape the agenda for the School for years to come, providing a solid framework that will position BFS for continued growth and future success.

Our vision for the future sets a course for expanding and enhancing our community; adapting and innovating to optimize student achievement; building enrollment; and stewarding our resources – campus, talent, and financial.  It inspires us to imagine Buckingham Friends School “as the regional leader in preserving the spirit of youth while preparing diverse global citizens to engage with confidence and thrive in a changing world.”

For 226 years, our wonderful campus has been central to the Buckingham Friends School experience—over these past few months, we have grown to love and value it even more. Stewarding Our Campus: Buckingham Friends School’s Master Facilities Plan is a community-driven blueprint for the continued improvement and care of our campus. We are grateful for the many voices that led to this plan, and excited about this work that celebrates our legacy in ways that will benefit the BFS community for years to come.
