A Milestone Moment for BFS

The BFS community gathered on campus to celebrate a major milestone: the transformation of the campus and the accomplishments of the Light The Way Forward: A Campaign for Buckingham Friends School. Alumni, families, trustees, faculty, and friends came from near and far, spanning generations, united by their connection to BFS and commitment to the School’s mission.

The evening was both joyful and reflective, a moment to celebrate what had been accomplished and the many hands and hearts that made it possible. Guided by the School’s 2019 strategic plan and thoughtful campus planning, the vision was bold: to transform how students learn, play, create, and grow — without drawing from tuition or operating funds. In August 2021, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the Capital Campaign. Four years later, most of the funding for twelve campus projects has been raised, and nearly every facility enhancement is complete.

A highlight of the evening was an inspiring video produced by Director of Advancement Katelynn Connolly and filmed by Ozzie Oswald of RVOIII Photography & Video, tracing the journey from vision to reality and demonstrating what a community can accomplish.

Across campus, the vision is fully realized. Renovated classrooms and common areas support flexible, 21st-century learning while preserving the warmth of the historic main building. A sustainable gym and state-of-the-art science building spark curiosity and activity, and new playgrounds — shaped by student input — blend play with outdoor learning. A covered bus canopy and community connector with a servery unify the campus, and the new arts facilities will reach their full potential with continued campaign support.

The celebration continued with a surprise performance by arts educators Kris Sinisi, Bridge McCartan, and Rich Cox, whose energy and artistry brought the evening to life and highlighted the creativity thriving at BFS.

The evening closed with gratitude and a call to action for the community to support the final phase of the Light The Way Forward campaign, securing the future of the new arts facilities — helping students find their voice, build confidence, and deepen their appreciation of the arts.

“We are celebrating having raised the majority of the funds required to complete twelve campus projects, but the work is not done. Throughout this process, starting in 2018, the most frequently cited word was community. We celebrated as a cohesive spirit that supports us on our journey together,” said Head of School Paul Lindenmaier. “We’re asking everyone to please join us by making a gift and help us realize the dream we started together — finishing this chapter in the Buckingham Friends School story.”
